De Verenigde Naties bracht deze dag tot leven om personen met een functiebeperking in de spotlight te zetten. Diversiteit en inclusie op de werkvloer wordt dan ook dagelijks belangrijker. Bovendien zou iedereen – en dus ook mensen met gezondheidsproblemen, een handicap of blessure – de kans moeten krijgen om een job uit te oefenen die bij hem of haar past.<\/p>\n

    Zet je talenten en vaardigheden in de kijker <\/strong><\/h5>\n

    Ondanks je beperking heb je vast ook talenten en vaardigheden. Laat je beperking daarom geen belemmering zijn, maar focus op je capaciteiten. Misschien heb je wel een motorische beperking waardoor je onvrijwillig spasmen vertoont, maar tegelijkertijd ben je ook erg creatief en zou je een fantastisch grafisch ontwerper zijn.<\/p>\n

    Maak daarom een lijstje en schrijf op waar je goed in bent, over welke competenties je beschikt, welke ervaring(en) je hebt en welke jobs bij je passen. Voordat je op zoek kan gaan naar een job waar je goed in bent, moet je weten welke eigenschappen je uniek maken.<\/p>\n

    Als je weet in welke job je goed zou zijn en voor welke organisatie je aan het werk wil, is het tijd om je huiswerk te maken. Ga na of het bedrijf dat je interesseert, openstaat voor diversiteit op de werkvloer. Via Google en social media kanalen krijg je al snel een beeld van de reputatie van een onderneming. Heb je de indruk dat het bedrijf belang aan diversiteit en inclusie hecht, dan kan je een kans wagen en solliciteren.<\/p>\n

    Doe een beroep op experts<\/strong><\/h5>\n

    Je staat er nooit alleen voor, ook niet in de zoektocht naar werk dat bij je past. Er bestaan voldoende rekruteringsbureaus die je graag helpen om een job te vinden. Rekruteringsexperts helpen je bijvoorbeeld bij het opstellen van een aantrekkelijk cv, maar geven daarnaast ook advies. Zo adviseren ze misschien wel een bepaalde training of bijscholing waardoor je je vaardigheden naar een hoger niveau tilt.<\/p>\n

    Als werkgever cre\u00eber je pas een talentenpool als je iedereen een kans geeft om zijn of haar talenten te laten zien. Ook mensen met een beperking hebben kwaliteiten waar je als werkgever naar op zoek bent.
